Virginia PTA Scholarships

Deadline:  March 1, 2017

Virginia PTA offers scholarships to graduating Virginia high school students planning to enter teaching or other youth-serving professions in Virginia.

Each year, two special scholarships are given.

  • A $1,200 scholarship memorializes M. Freida Koontz, the executive secretary of the Student Cooperative Association from 1922-50.
  • A $1,200 scholarship honors S. John Davis, Virginia's Superintendent of Schools from 1979-89.
  • Additional $1,000 scholarships are also offered, the number of which depends each year on proceeds from special Virginia PTA projects, functions and donations. All revenue from the PTA Presidents Honor Award, Life Membership, Student Leadership, and Distinguished Service Awards presented throughout the state each year go directly to the Scholarship Fund.
